Ok, so last week I went to get my car tuned and everything went pretty good. I could not get the electronic boost controller to work but we did manage to squeeze 9lbs of boost out of a manual boost controller and it put down 263hp at the wheels and 235lbs of torque. All and all it went good but the motor is built so when I figure out this problem I will be able to spend another hour on the dyno tuning the hondata setup and should be around 325-350 hp at the wheels.
Anyway, this is my problem...
When we were finishing up the tuning, the car would start reving between 1k & 2k when it was idling and it would not stop. It did well when you were on the gas and driving and for a while it stopped moving up and down and just sat at 2k during idling. My tuner and I thought maybe it was a vacum leak so we didnt think to much of it because it drove well and it could get me home. Well, on the way home on the freeway I could feel the car start jerking pretty hard, it started out infrequently then became more frequent. After about five minutes of that the p28 threw a check engine light and died... After some tinkering I put the p13 back in the car and it idled the same way but when it through the code it went into limp mode and got me home. So I talked to my mechanic and he said it was probably the throttle position sensor but didnt have time to really check it because this past weekend was the nopi nationals and of course there were about 10 other cars to get ready.
So my question is this. I called Honda and it looks like they are telling me I have to replace the entire throttle body to get that sensor. I tried checking the code on the p28 but for some reason the check engine light just stays on and wont tell me the code....
Does anyone have any idea or any experience with an issue like this?
Thanks.
