help took apart 4th gen climate control to try to fix....

one day my slider which dictates hot or cold got stuck at one position and it wouldn't slide left past a certain point and when i slid it right it wouldn't change the temp so it was stuck at one temp no matter where the slider was (it was cold thankfully) but now its startin to get a lil colder up here so i tried to open it up and try to fix the cable mayb it was off track or something so i open it up... and i realize that the cable is having a hard time sliding through its little bracket and even when i make it slide back and forth correctly the cable isn't moving the actual thing on the passanger side which really change the temperature... for some rason its too hard for the cable to move the temperature changer by the passangerside floor... the onyl way for me to change the temp is to open the control box and manually push the temp changer thing int he direciton i want... i don't think this problem is the fault of my climate contorl anymore but maybe somethings wrong with the cable/temp changer mechanism... dunno what to do cause tried to set the cable back on track and it kept getting stuck and it sitll wouldnt' change the temp... jdm climate control? anyone have a cheap stock climate control unit they wanna give me maybe so i can see if thats the prob or if its the actual cable mechainsm down below?

Until you figure out the problem, you can manually adjust the temperature setting from under the dash on the passenger side. I think you mentioned something about that, but you said "open it up" you shouldnt have to open anything just to move the temperature position at the heater blower.

Try to turn it there and see if it is difficult, it should move relatively easily.

The vinyl wrapping around my cable was all torned where the cable is held in place under the passenger side of the dash so I put some electrical tape around it just the right size so the cable would stay there tight. If you can move the lever around under the dash and the lever on the climate control unit can still side well it's probably your cable

you could get a cable from honda, may cost a shiny penny. i would try a bicycle cable (either a brake cable or shifter cable) and see if that would work. just lube it up good. i have never done this, but it make sense to me.

I recently had this problem, paid the dealer 200 bucks to fix it. It was a cable on the heater assembly unit, not the one that runs from the slider to the unit. They had to completely take apart the dash to change this little cable that had frozen up. Try changing the cable that runs from the slider down to the assembly, it is not too hard.

what do you mean the cable was stripped? you mean like the black vinyl around it was stripped? if that's the case I had the same thing happened to me, just put some electrical tape around it and clip it back in. you might have to add/remove some tape until it fits tight in there. Worked well for me until I remove the unit completely for a JDM digital climate control

The cables are not more than ten dollars each. Take it down to the dealer and show them which cable it is on their computer parts catalog. They will have to order it, compare the old with the new one when it comes in to verify.
