1. your fault for racing, stupidity

2. the only way you could be going in 2nd and revving at 8k is if you down shifting. the rev-limiter (which is set at 7600 btw) wouldn't have let you go further unless you have something allowing such a high rev limit. again your fault, stupidity

3. you didn't have to take off the head to check for bent valves unless your compression test / leakdown test showed you those type of results.

4. if you took off your head, why not replace the stupid gasket while you're at it??? i mean you are asking if that was the source of the problem when you should have just changed it then to rule it out.

1. i do know what i'm talking about, much more than you buddy

2. have you ever looked at a dyno graph of a h22a? you don't make power above 7400 or so, much less 8k or even 9k. to think your bottom end can handle those type of rev's means you know nothing of the h22's internals. i can pretty much assume you don't have a h22 capable of those high rev's. putting a chip with that kind of rev limiter is stupid.

3. you even said yourself that you took off the "head" sorry i confused that with a valve cover. obviously i'm the idiot...yeah right. plus you can't even tell that your valve are bent because they're on the OTHER SIDE of the head.

i'm getting smart because your response has showed me that i am obviously smarer.

4 words: compression test / leakdown test

You have made a big mistake if you think that running a "chip" will let you rev to 9k RPM. A near stock H22 cannot rev to 9k safely. The bottom end will have wrist pin deformation issues, and more importantly, the stock valvetrain will definitely float. If you think you are going to buzz it to 9k with just a chip, you are in for a painful lesson.

Please stop acting all toughguy to our senior members. Peter knows what he is talking about, so it would be wise to listen to him.

Interesting....

Compression test. If it sounds like a subaru and is running crazy rough - you probably broke a rod. THat's what my H23 did
