help with suspension upgrade please

HI guys, ive said in an earlier post that i needed a suspension setup that would handle rough dirt road conditions, but I am really clueless when it comes to suspension. Right now I have an Si with stock setup. I have been told that my struts are leaking and need to be replaced. Should i change the springs and shocks when changing the struts? What is the difference between struts and shocks? What are coilovers? I know they are adjustable and lower the car, but i dont want mine lowered, so should i keep my stock springs and just get new shocks? What parts would be best to keep stock and what to change to get the desired setup that can handle rough roads but still give a smooth ride? Please give me some advice, as I am on a budget, and don't want to spend unessasarily cuz the guy at tire kingdom is trying to sell me all kinds of stuff that im not sure i need, and to tell you the truth i really have no clue about... Thanks a lot guys.

Preludes use springs and shocks, NOT struts. So that means your shocks are leaking and need to be replaced. All the other things you refer to are just different types of suspension. Personally I'd recommend getting new honda shocks and keeping your old springs - they usually last the life of the car unless they're really abused or rusted out. If you go for performance shocks/springs that will only make your ride stiffer, which means the bumps will be harsher! I've never seen anything to raise the car up so I'd say just stick with OEM.

^^ i would actually buy aftermarket, kyb or tockio, cant spell that last one

the reason is that those shock carry a warrenty on them, from the last i read they both had lifetime warrenty. as long as they stay on your car and you are the owner that bought the shocks.

soooooo why not spurg and get soem nice adjustable. get springs at the same time if you want to slower it.

I don't see the point of you buying adjustables. You certainly won't want to use the higher settings on bumpy roads because they're stiffer than stock and it will be uncomfortable. So it's kind of like you aren't using most of those shock's capabilities, so what's the point in spending the money on them?

so would you reccomend just getting the regular generic shocks that they install at jiffy lube or tire kingdom?
