HELP-problem with coilovers

I 'm having a problem with my coilovers.
The inner edge of the aluminum centering ring that sits on top of the spring, hits the outer top edge of my shock. I replaced all the busings and bumpstops on the struts and it still hits the shock on larger bumps in the road.

If I use the stock rubber insulator and don't use the centering ring Do you think I will have any problems with the spring shifting around? This seems like the only way that I'll be able to fix this problem.

well first off...what kind of coilovers do you have??

I have ground controls and i had some slight rubbing problems also. (but maybe different from yours) The sleeve was rubbing on the springs a little bit. So i trimmed off the top of the sleeve a little. Problem solved, no more rubbing!

or a temporary fix, you can put some duct tape around it.

the problem is that the upper aluminum ring that sits on top of the spring is hitting my shock. It makes a loud clunking noise and is rubbing through the paint and metal on the top of my shock. I don't think that ring on top is really necessary so I'm just going to remove it and use the stock factory rubber isolator.
