Help! Overheating?

I drive a 94 prelude with 150,000 miles. My temp gauge is slowly creeping up in traffic almost to the red zone, then going back down to normal. It hasn't overheated. It seems the faster I drive, the faster it goes down. It's been doing this constantly for the last week. Fluids are good, replaced the thermostat, checked the water pump, that's ok, fans o.k. Now they want to replace the sensor? (or something like that). Help any ideas?
