HELP! oil leak.

I'm a noob and need help. So i'll explain the whole story. My commute from work to home is less than 2 miles. I drove home last night and noticed a hint of oil smell but i didn't think of it. Got home to park in the parking lot but it was full, reversed and parked on my driveway. Got out of my car, saw a streak of oil from where i reversed all the way to my driveway. Looked underneath my car and saw a huge puddle of Oil collecting on my driveway. Popped open the hood and saw oil leaking from the side of the engine block on the drivers side.

I have a 1992 prelude. h23

please help me. i have no idea what is going on...

My guess is balance shaft seal which behind the timing over or Oil cooler ring which is on the back of the block where the oil filter is. Jack it up and clean it all off with brake cleaner. Then start it up you should be able to find where it is coming from.

You didnt just recently change your valve cover gasket did you? I have the same problem with my car.... HORRIBLE oil leak only when its running... i changed the seal on the balance shaft pulley and it didnt fix my problem... SO next someone mentioned that these valve covers are notorious for leaking. maybe just a suggestion?

I bet one of the 2 balance seals, the front one is known to push itself out, a retainer can be bought at the dealer. Posted info about it in the guys above me thread.

its probably whatever these good people said ^

balance shaft seals, valve cover gasket.

But it also can be a distributor seal, since you said its on the passenger side of the block, but usually those are smaller leaks.

But anyways, I would bet balance shaft seal 75% or crank seal 25%. Probably balance shaft though. When you get the timing cover off if there is not a balance shaft seal retainer, get one. They are under $2.00 from the dealer and come with a new dip stick oil tube o-ring as well. If you need the part number for it let me know and I can find it for you.
