Help me estimate my WHP. please?

I'm just about done with a full engine rebuild on my H23A1. Some of you have followed the build, and know I have a full rebuild (so there should be all 160/156 there at the time of starting the key.) On top of that, I have a cold air intake, a header, and a world sport free flowing muffler. I would suspect by seeing the results of the Import Tuner build of the same vehicle as mine (with much more miles, non rebuilt) gaining about 12 hp and 10 torque that I may be seeing similar results because I have just about the same 3 items they had when dyno'd.

With that being said, I don't know the exact % of drivetrain loss which I can expect from the prelude, but I will say that their car at 200,000 miles put down a lousy 122/124. I can't rely on those numbers because I have a like new full rebuild which has probably restored most if not all the power to the engine. Their 200K motor, is not up to par by any means I would not think. Can anybody help me determine what my WHP would be based on the following information.

Stock 160/156 flywheel Hp/Tq. Added parts which could = about 12/10 Wheel Hp/Tq.

What can I expect to lay on the pavement? would I be incorrect at guessing around 140/138 may hit the floor, or is that too much to expect from a like new engine with intake header and exhaust? If you have dynod with this engine similar mods please, post hp/tq results and what brand your intake header and exhaust were.

forgot to add this quote from the site:

"CONCLUSION
We were surprised at how well the Prelude performed with the bolt-ons. At 6200 rpm the Prelude made an additional 19.4 horsepower with the bolt-ons versus with stock units in place. From all the normally aspirated vehicles we have tested at ImportTuner, we have never seen a vehicle make as much power as the Prelude."

Is you rebuild the same compression as before?

You should lay down about 150 I would say.. An H23 in decent shape in stock form would lay down high 130s or low 140's..

Yeah, I could not find a higher compression headgasket, but the head did get the contact side of it (bottom side) belt sanded to be perfectly flush again with the head gasket and the block, so that was the second time that got done.. the compression will be slightly higher.. so With lets say "brand new H23A" (cuz its rebuilt) plus intake header and exhaust, man if i lay down 150 I'll be doing really good for this engine I could live with that till I can afford boost. Thanks for the info!

throw your car on a dyno and do a baseline run you will get the numbers u desire. Also if you were planning to BOOST ur h23 i would have spent the $ on resleeving, rods and lower compression pistons since ur are doing a rebuild. No point in boosting if ur just gonna boost 6-7psi.

I was not planning to spend $100.00 on running the car a couple of times to see what power it makes just with minimal mods but i might. I wanted an estimate so if anybody asked I could say "aprox. xxx / xxx."

I understand your message about re-sleeving etc.. but for my daily driven car i dont know if I'll put that much money into boosting after this reliable re-build. I thought about it, but I'm already buying another car so.. haha we'll see but thanks for the advice!

150 whp sounds a bit optimistic to me for just three bolt-on mods. For the mods you listed, I would say in the 140 range.
