Help Me!

can someone tell me why my 95 si 2.3 automatic's first gear doesn't do engine break anymore? also now when I drive it on first gear, it revs but as soon as I released, it feels like the gear just got loose and rev meter go back down to 1 and when I step on it again the car don't react you hear the rev until it catch up to the rpm that was suppose to get to, it moves again. any help would be great thank you everyone!

If the gear isn't catching, then your clutch maybe shot, how many miles do you have on it?

I don't know if I understand you though, can you reword it?

EDIT: wait, it's an auto, sorry....

this needs to be cleared up so it revs up but doesnt move, then you rev again and then it goes

does the car jerk after going from reverse to a forward gear??

it jerks, when it rev, it doesn't move until it reach the rpm that i left with when I leg go of my foot...well a little less.
so for example I if I drive first gear. and rev it up to say 5 and let go. the rpm would fall back to 1 again. then when I step on it again. the rpm would rev like if it's in N and when it hit about 5 the car would feel like a gear kicked in..

It's probably related to either the flywheel or the converter. Both are balancing assemblies for the engine, as well as converting power to the ground, which sounds like you're not getting very much of.
