HELP! I CANT PASS SMOG!

I actually should of posted it here..

I failed smog horribly.. and I dunno where to start..

okay here we go...

1993 Si....

engine: 120k miles on odometer, 5k miles on rebuilt motor (valves, piston head, and crankshaft). The motor is stock except for Injen SRI.

I seem to have a slight overheating problem. From what the smog tech said (test only center) the engine coolant temperature sensor is not activating the fans at the right temperature.. but the fans do come. The thermostat was replaced September 2004 b/c of the same situation. But while the tech was doing the smog test, he put the fan towards my car and it was running normal temperature during the test. And so I get the results, and i failed.

Can anybody give me a heads up on whats going wrong? From what the tech. said, there's more than one thing going wrong on the motor, so I am already expecting the worst.

Thanks in advance....

have you done a oil change yet? also change out ur plugs... that's what i did, and i passed. as for the overheating problem, i remember someone having that problem on a 94vtec, and it was due to the the head not being grounded? (dunno, sounded funny but that's what i heard)

my 92si cat was toast 3 years ago at 120ish k as well. it was obvious though, things inside of it were broken loose and making noise. havent replaced it just took it out. we dont allow <3.2% beer in stores and you cant tattoo here, but for some reason the law no longer cares about pollution here. [not enough ppl to make a diff apparently...]

anyhow, im just agreeing with spin. how are your spark plugs lookin?
