help on climate control -- READ IN

after spending an outrageous 650$ to fix my air conditioning, it was finally blowing ICE COLD air (something elusive to prelude owners)... neways i have a 4th gen and i was sliding the temp control to cold and it kinda got stuck near the colder end.... i can't push any more left and the resistance is gone when i try to go from right, and with the resistance being gone the temperate control doesn't work so its always at one temperaure and even when i slide the knob right it doesn't change the temperature because the internal thign that changes it isn't moving only the knob orwhgatver is so how can i fix this? simple open it up? its hjammed and its off the track or SOMETHING help guys thanks

check the cable that runs down to the air mix control mechanism.

It can be seen/accessed from the pass. side floorboard, directly behind the radoi. More than likely that cable mechanism is just a little hung up.

the housing for the cable probably came out of it's little clamp. you have to pull the cable out as far as it'll go, attach the ring at the end to the airmix mechanism post, and then push the housing into the little clamp/clip right next to it. if you lay upside down on the passenger side floor you'll see what i'm talking about.

Yeah I had that problem too, and the vinyl on the cable was cracked and getting off so I put some electrical tape on it so it stayed in it's place. Now it's completely gone though

I just had this repaired at the dealer so I can help you out. As go pre was getting to there's a cable that runs from the slider down to the mixer unit in the left hand side of the passengers footwell. This is very easy to disconnect if you're looking in the area (just pull down, it's held in with a clip.) A Helms manual is very helpful to see what I'm describing. Disconnect that and then see if your slider works freely. If it does than that cable isn't your problem (if it is your problem it's fairly easy to replace.) There are actually several more cables on the assembly. Of course mine was one of the buried cables so I had the dealer do it for around $150. My cable had totally seized up so the slider would spring back to the same position. You have to disassemble the dash to get to most of the cables on that assembly.
