I don't really think you need to evacuate the system being that all the lines were off etc when you did your swap, BUT, you need to think about what type of freon you want to use. You have 2 choices, stick with the original type called R12, which your system was designed for, and will cool better but is MUCH more expensive to refill, and you cannot purchase it yourself, you have to take the car to an AC place and have them do it for you...or, you can use what 93+ cars use which is called 134a, it's much cheaper, you can buy it and refill your system yourself, but it won't cool as well as it used to, and you'll need to buy a conversion kit found at any auto parts store. If you decide you want to convert, you'll need (well, highly recommended) to buy a new AC Reciever wich will have condensation and moisture in it which is very bad for your compressor.
