Is it true that using an aftermarket header will cause your alternator to go bad faster. I heard that somewhere, they said that because the new header doesn't have a heat shield the alternator will be more likely to go out sooner b/c of overheating?? Is this true?

Yes, to a point. The factory manifold has a heat shield for a reason.
You might want to wrap the header with header wrap if your concerned, but that doesn't look to good.
You could also make a heat sheild out of some tin for the alt.

If it were me, I would just buy a new alt if that one goes bad.
