Headlight wiring

(also posted on HT)

Ok, I looked around, however I couldnt find a diagram that showed the secondary filament in the H4 bulbs being used when the brights (H1's) were switched on. I'm decent w/ electrical circuits, but no expert by any means, so this is what I've plotted out, and I was wanting some feedback of if everything looked alright, thanks in advance folks

Lemme know what you think.

K

i would repost what i posted on HT. but i'm sure you can look over there.

there are threads in the faqs that show you how to wire up jdm headlights. (remember to look in both faq sections)

its not that hard, just need a relay

You have the highs and lows of the h4 reversed. From what I can remember the center prong is for the high beam and the side is for the low.

to do it the easy way (dont know if electrically its the right way), just splice the ground on the H1 and put it to the 3rd (unused) prong on the H4. thats how i have mine done.

i think this is becuase our cars run off a ground circuit. where as when the switch for the headlights is turned, the ground connects and causes the lights to turn on, not the positive. i have proof in this as i tried to wire mine up using the positive from the H1 on the H4, and it didnt work.

suvlights.com sells a harness thats strictly plug and play... the harness includes 2 relays and hooks to your battery. This is what I have on my car...

Yeah I wondered about this since I didnt see on the ground wiring schematic where the high beams had a ground listed. So I went to look at the wire colors for the "ground" on the stock high beams, and they are the same color combination wires for the power wires on the low beams! So, I'm thinkin' that I won't plug it in direct to the 3rd prong, but will use the "ground" for the high beams as the switch for my relays.

(and maybe I'll have time to do this, this week )
