headlight vent paint issues

i took my car to the body shop and i told them to get rid of the two bars in the headlight vent piece and paint it white to match my car. it came out nice, its just that the edges are straight in some places and its a little bumpy. i told him about it a few times and he just says thats the nature of it and the epoxy expands and contracts sometimes and it gets bumpy.

should i believe him or its really not supposed to be like that?

jesus, your car is white too? Man, can't you do anything on your own?! As for the paint issues, it doesn't seem that bad, but if you find out any concrete problems/solutions, let me know, I'll be getting my vents painted along with my fog covers, jdm mirrors, oem skirts and possible front lip (but don't you worry about that)

maybe you should have gotten chrome headlights, that black don't match too well.

i think the black matchs my car very very well, i would never trade it for the chrome. the black headlights are one of my fav mods and im sure a lot of people would agree. the black/white scheme on my car looks amazing to me. but lets try to stick to the topic please. we are talking about my headlight vents.

i woudl say your ass out as far as bumpie ness, those vents are small and semi hard to work with. i dont' see too much imperfection, so if you can circle the areas you are talking about, it might help. i have painted uncut vents, they aren't perfect, but they will do, cause it hard to wetsand/smooth out paint when there is no room to work with.

its not really where the guy took off the vents thats the problem. is more towards the back. the imperfections is pretty obvious. just look at the line and how its supposed to be straight. instead theres a few curves and stuff around the back edge. look at the first pic, and look at the bottom left. you see how its not a good curve? its very curvy. im not talking about the paint on the flat surfaces, im talking about how the lines are curvy and bumpy.

yes it looks awesome, I love the Black JDM's. They look alot better than the clears in this case...
Dont worry about the vents, nobody is going to see them, they'll probably be covered by shadows most of the time and nobody will get that close..

i didnt remove the bar in betwen mine, i think it blends in fine with the headlights, tho maybe you should have kept the bar, but thats just what i th ink of course. I have the euro lights, and white vents and i think it looks pretty clean with the vents, but then again, maybe the black turning sigs give a bit more accent to it blends in more on mine, just look in my sig, while i look for some better pics.

Edit:

hope this gives a better idea

I see what you are talking about the "bumpiness" of the back part of the inlet, IF I STARE AT THE PICS AND THINK ABOUT IT!! I think it is absolutely insignificant. I wouldn't even notice.

RELAX, it looks great.

Exactly. I really couldn't tell until I had to stare at it for a while. I know you want your car to be pristine, but sometimes it's better to just leave things the way they are rather than spend more $$ and time to get it fixed.

If you really want to fix it, then maybe get a dremel to cut a straight line, and then sand it down.
