headlight retrofit questions

I'll keep it as simple as I can, I'm very excited to finally do this modification.
Retrofitting some E46, with modified cut off shield, with soft lenses, 5000K Phillips D2S bulbs (made in Germany), D2S HID plug harness and a brand new Xentec ballasts (after market)

Before I start:
1. These will go into my spare USDM lights(they flow well with my car/color scheme) Do the projectors get mounted straight ahead, meaning perpendicular to the headlight, or should they get mounted to follow the reflector bowl, making a little angle going inward. Picture 1 or 2?
Picture 1 Straight ahead, perpendicular to headlight itself.

How it looks like from the front:

Picture 2 on the angle following reflector bowl.

How it looks like from the front:

2. What kind of tools are you guys using for cutting the bowl? A saber saw and dremel? Anything work better?

Thanks

Never retro'd a set of 4th gen projectors but if nobody on here answers your first question check on hidplanet.com/forums

I see quite a few prelude retro's on there.

For your second question I use a dremel with a cutting bit and once I have a decent shape cut out I use the sand bit to make it bigger little by little.

The direction of the projector should be like your pic #2. Follow the angle of the bowl. This will shoot the light out straight infront of your car which you want.

Best way to cut the headlight is a dremel. I used a small cut off wheel attachment with the dremel to cut out most of the housing then I fine tailored it with a small angled grinding bit.

im retrofiting the "jdm" projectors (2 parts) with a hella projector...

as spin_r_g says the right position will be as pic 2... as the headlights are mounted with some angle, if you put them as the pic 1 you could probably will end with less light in the middle...

before start to drilling holes to hold the projector i recomend you to put the back part of the headlight with the projector in the carr, light up, check the aiming and mark the positions...

in hidplanet.com/forums i have looked for 4gen retrofit and i think i dont found any, for 5gen are some... but it have a lot of information, lot of retrofits... can be very helpful

the second way is correct, that's angled like that to match the angle of the car
