headlight bulbs

does anyone know why my headlights bulb keeps blow up when I race? they won't go out the same time just one of them will each time, but both lights have this problem. Is it cause I got cheap quality bulbs? does anyone have this problem before, thanks.

too much power?
isn't there something that regulates the electricity?

what type of bulbs, how much you pay, where you get em?
how do they blow? Just burnout or actually break?
How many have you gone through and after how long?

yup. it's in the alternator. I forget exactly what it is but if it goes bad.....your voltage will go up the more power you make. Instead of staying at 14-15 volts max it goes up to say 16-17 volts. This will eventually damage your electrical components, starting with your lights and going to everything else....like your radio, gauge cluster and whatever else requires no more than 12-14 volts to operate properly.

Just my $0.02 but you might want to just have it checked out....I've seen this happen before and it's not really pretty.

I bought a set of 4 Sylvania Silver Star Super Brights less than a year and a half ago, and Ive already blown two. I replaced the first one thinking, it might have been a just a freak accident, but after the third went out I decide that they were crap! They are awsome bulbs when they work but they dont last for sh*t!

Same here. I've gone through 4 Sylvania Silver Star H1's, theyn all lasted a few months. I switched back to the normal bulbs from NAPA and they're working fine. The Silver Stars have a nicer look, but they cost more then twice as the NAPA bulbs, and last for ****.
