header install?

well wasn't planning on doin this today. But does anyone know how long it takes to install a greddy header on our ludes for someone who is pretty mechanically inclined, not that that would make much of a difference anyhoo.

any tips to help make it less aggravating cause i'm sure i'll run in to something?

my friend with a stock 04 wrx began to talk some basura and i was going to wait to put this on in 2 weekends, so now its on like donkey kong.

thanks guys.

it should take less than an hour, the only thing that I remember needing was a long wrench (breaker bar) for my cat bolts because they were stuck on good. Oh and a new header gasket or whatever it's called.

it took me about an hour to change my header. make sure you get the same amount of torque on each bolt where the 4-2 pipe meet. i get getting exhaust leaks there bc its a pain in the ass to torque evenly.

Also make sure when you tighten the nuts for the header to the block, that you work your way from the inside of the header out. This way the gasket on the block is pressed out evenly outward.

took me about 6 hours lol. never got the cat bolts off (even with liquid wrench). Then tried to cut them off (due to frustration) finally replaced the whole piping.

for these type of bolts the best and easiest way is HEAT. that is my best tool i use in my shop.

hmmmm 4 hours later.....finally get it all together. i put in my ebay resonated test pipe and the header by myself. that sucked man. didn't have any problems with any of the bolts except one which broke off where 4-2 meets. there's that one nut on the header, 2nd one from the bottom right that is really hard to tighten because I couldn't get a ratchet on it! i also made sure to wipe it down with alcohol before starting it and i'll check tomorrow to see if there are any bad discolorations.

i heard something rattling for a little while when i first started it up, didn't get underneath to see what it was though.

my only advice is to have a friend help you out cause it's hard to put on the bolts at the 4-2 by yourself
