header heat shield...

i'm replacing a stock header into an aftermarket one... so i'm not gonna need the front cover right? so is the heat gonna effect anything in the front? or does ne1 happen to know where i can get like some kinda tape so i can wrap the header up in case the heat is gonna spread.... thanx guys!

you really don't need it, and header wrap has been known to crack headers because it does such a good job at keeping the heat in.

if you are concerned about yor PS pump or alternator you can trim the stock sheild or have a custom one made to protect only those items

I don't think you can use the heatshield with any aftermarket headers. You can get insulate the header but it can cause it to get very hot and crack sometimes.

As machine said, you'll be fine without it. No shield here for over a year and half.

i remember reading somewhere its how the header is made... like if ceramic coating is on the out and inside, dont know exactly and ive heard of one paint job on the hood going bad cause of the combined heat of a header and turbo, although mostlikely it was the turbo that done it.
