the DOHC makes it pretty easy as you only have to remove the valve cover, timing belt, unbolt the IM from the block and disconnect the header from the "down pipe" B-pipe.

once all that is done you can just get the 10 head studs out and pry the head off the block. just remember that you will have to replace all the gaskets before putting it back together.

the only part that scares me is the timing belt. is this hard to do?

what about a thinner head gasket or anything?

the timing belt is not hard to do once you have gotten to it. as for the head gasket, i honestly don't know enough about compression rates w/ the h motors to tell you... you might search the forums. good luck.

if you're looking to get a better head gasket, you might be out of luck for the f22b. as spoon only makes a head gasket for the h22.

ok chums i'm back and now i have this problem. I need to take my head off of my h23 and i wanted to know what all i have to do and any how-to's or things to watch out for. I have been having problems with my car and i think its just a head gasket(HOPE is what i really meant). But instead of hoping i was gonna take my head and have it pressure tested. Thanks for any input...

I believe you also have to take out the cams in order to remove the head.

Just make sure you take the headstuds out in the order the helms says or you will warp the Head.

oh by the way i decided not to remove my head for various reasons, but i also was stuck at a point were i couldn't get my intake manifold off... I had removed the top four nuts and i couldn't seem to get to the bottom four. Do i really have to take off the parts around and underneath the manifold to get to those bottom four nuts?
