Any ideas of why the lights will turn off when I switch to my brights? It looks as if the marker lights are still on though. To get them back on, I have to turn them off and then back on. I've checked for loose connections, so I'm guessing relay malfuction. It does it once in a blue moon so I never get to look at it when it happens... I'm usually driving blinded.
Sounds like a relay, or the switch on your column maybe be starting to go out.

Well it hasn't been acting up lately.. Just blows my mind, well when it starts being funky again I'll start investigating more deeply into the problem. Thanks for the suggestions!
most likely a short on the high beam wiring...so maybe if something is touching the wires, it ll short everytime you turn them on...best thing I can suggest is go thru all wires and make sure there is no exposed connections...

Are the headlight relays under the driver's side dash? I'm having a similar problem now to where my brights are stuck to the on position no matter what the switch does. I just put the USDM headlights back on last night. I suppose it could be a bad connection, but I triple checked everything before I patched it up and they were working fine last night.
Definitely the headlight relay. It is in the fuse box in the engine bay. If you need to, the ABS relay works for the headlight. Just don't pull that ABS relay when it's wet out! Speaking all from experience.
