Head Gasket? Seals?

I bought my 4th gen lude 2days ago, so naturally it was fine when i went to see it. now 2days later it started blowing whiteish blue smoke. should i do a compression check to see if its the head gasket? Im doing a dip stick check to see if theres coolant in the oil a bit later tonight, oil light isnt on. If it is the head gasket how much is it to fix both by myself and for someone else to (which prob wont happen cuz they over charge)

if i remember right blue smoke indicates bad rings on the pistons usually.. so bottom end rebuild is probably due..

A LOT, your talking about totally disassembling the bottom end. If you are in J-ville I know someone that would more than likely be the cheapest you'll ever find.

My friend had that and we replaced his valve guide seals and it fixed the problem.

the rings may only cost you about $3 each but you have to remove the motor and break it down, so $300+ on labor just for having to remove the engine
probably another $300 in parts for the rebuild kit
and lastly whatever other charges they feel like dropping on you lol.

find someone on a local forum that wouldnt mind helping you pull the motor and break it down. rings are very easy to change imo, just make sure you have someone who can put your head back on and set the timing

ok, im not TOO worried about labor my dad was a Honda mechanic and has pretty much everything from when he worked at honda, some extra o-rings ect. im more worried about how much time it will take and how much the acctual parts are. Im taking it today to run diagnostics to see if anything comes up, then im taking it to my dad to have him look at it, so i pretty much need a head gasket kit and the seals. and is there anything else i should change out while im doing it so i wont have to go under it anytime super soon?
