Head gasket/calif smog???

I was able to pass every part except for the NOX part. I was only off by about 130 points. I took it to a mechanic to see what I could do to lower that and he said it could possibly be that I need a thicker head gasket because my head may be milled down too much. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know what else I may be able to do to lower the NOX? Thanks in advance.

Is your egr connected? If not, connect it, if so, have it cleaned out and make sure it's working properly. That brought me down a few points.

before i smogged, i sat in the parking lot outside the smog station revving like crazy, and on the way there i vtecced the whole way there pretty much hahahaha... so yea just keep doing that and your cat will be crazy hot, and for me it changed me from failing, to barely passing by 1ppm on HC

edit: also when i failed, the car had been parked for 15 min, and then just taken over there to smog test it, and i failed NOx that way too... so many your head is milled too much or hwatever but still i think you should give the vteccing all over the place and revving a try and maybe you'll pass without trying to do anything else too expensive...

Well I don't have VTEC but I will give that a shot. I also put in this Guaranteed to Pass stuff to see if that will work. Thanks for the advice to all.
