Harmonic Balancer, any experience?

First, I did a search for this and came up with a lot of topics on pulleys other than what I was looking for, and learned it has to do with my pistons.

Well....it literally fell off at a stop light on my way to classes...lol.

Well I asked some guys at an autozone I was able to drive to, and asked what it was, since I'm still learning about engines.

So they said one of two things can happen. Either I'll need a new crank shaft? I hope I got that name right lol, or just a new pin that sits behind the harmonic balancer.

They said they were amazed that I drove it to the parking lot? So can that cause damage to my head?

Do any of you have experience with any outcomes of this?

I'm getting tired of the big problems happening first

thats the same thing that happend to mines not really sure what the cause ,but it sucks first check the crankshaft where the damper bolt goes in (crank pulley bolt) and try to check if its striped or see if the damper bolt is strip .if the crankshaft is strip got to get a new ,if the bolt is strip u should get a new one but i whould replace both. if those r still good then thats when you invest in a new key from my exp. u should always replace the crankshaft key when this prob come up so when u buy a new crank pulley it wont get damaged.
for reinstalling i bought a crank pulley holder to get equal force to the bolt rather than holding it from the flywheel. oh before installing the bolt i used threadlocker high temp. to seal it into the crankshaft . tighten the bolt then torqe it to 159 ft lb , dont install the acc belts yet wait 72 hours then reinstall the belts and it should be good to go

Alright sweet man thanks. Ya the bolt doesn't look stripped, and I can see the pin bent outward, so I know it's there. I've got classes everyday then work every night so it's hard to get under the car lol :/ But many thanks for the reply
