I've done a search and found out what the switch is what it does. But my question purpose does having the antenna at half mast due?

I wouldn't mind having it. I hate how the antenna is when it's fully extended.

the half mast improves the radio signal in major cities, as the signal is so strong that the full antenna would just make the radio sound like crap.

thats what every single japanese person has told me.

evidently, in japan, because of their low parking garage roofs, a full height antenna would get snapped off... hence, the half mast for easy parking

where did you ever hear that... that would mean that any and all SUVs would be screwed from parking in a parking garage. my antena is perm. up (as id doesn't go down) and it only sticks up 6-8" above the roof of my car.

^^ from members on both the toronto prelude club and honda-tech.

not ALL of their garages are low, only some of them are. So if you have a big SUV, you don't park in the low ceiling garage.

There's an actual picture of a car going into a low car parking garage, it's got big ass yellow hatching at the top so you know if you're about to chop your roof off.
