Isn't the h23a3 from the euro accords?? I've never heard of preludes having that engine. Sorry, not sure if that could swap over though. I remember reading about the h23a3's a long time ago. I'm sure if you searched you could find something.
Also, I thought JDM motors didn't have the last #, ie H22A etc. Someone should be able to clear this up for you as I'm also curious to get more info on that engine now lol.

Well, I can't figure out what you call euro Accord sometimes...
H23A3 was put in the European version of normal Accord from 1993 to 1994. The car was described as 2.3iSR and was made in England. Later this engine was replaced by F22Z1 (2.2 SOHC VTEC).
This is the same engine as H23A1 (US Prelude) and H23A2 (European Prelude).
Accord Euro R is the name for a car on JDM only! It has H22A8 engine.
True Accord Type R is being made in Swindon UK with H22A8 engine 212HP, 209Nm.
Rover 623 borrowed the engine from Honda...
That's all. Hope it will clear things out.
Tom

I know theres two different h23a3's theres the blue top from europe which is a vtec from an accord but theres also a jappanese one which is a non vtec almost if not exactly like the h23a1 thats from a prelude. My question is if everything drops in the same with no changes. Ive heard that I need to change the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold from my h23a1 to my h23a3 due to the difference in emissions from here and japan. Just want to confirm and try to get more info on that. My h23a3 valve cover says dohc 16 valve and the h23a1 jus has the honda emblem.
The blue top vtec from the Accord SiR Sport Wagon has the engine code H23a where yours is the H23a3 which is exactly the same motor as the H23a1 in the US spec Prelude Si. The H23a blue-top VTEC is a JDM only engine, yours was assembled in Europe for their Accord 2.3iSR as spin r g posted above. Your H23a3 should drop right in, its exactly the same as the H23a1, neither have VTEC.
so the h23a3 engine is from an Accord 2.3iSR in Europe? cool, i was wondering where it came from.lol

I know this is over a year old, but I recently purchased an H23A engine Non Vtech for my 96 prelude Si off of the site Tiger Japanese, and when it came in it says H23a3 on it. The problem I ran accross is that the H23A3 doesn't have a camshaft sensor, or the bolts to put one there, so how can I just drop it into my car like that?
That is because you have the funny OBD2 H23 that has the camshaft sensor and the Japanese versions were still OBD1. I know there is a answer somewhere, but the process is not simple.
