Honda seems to mark their redline waaaaay before cutoff. My friend finally whacked his cutoff on his 5G.

Go to www.jdmhondaparts.com for info about an H22A swap.

The Rod/stroke ratio would compromise piston ring life, and oil seal. You'll need VTEC oil squirters, forged rods, and balanced crank, VTEC oil return line, and anything else a CR-VTEC or LS-VTEC requires to run up that high of an RPM.

As for VTEC and turbo, VTEC loses in a few areas:
1) Transmission. Short gearing takes you out of boost often
2) Too much overlap: Good for N/A. Bad for FI.

VTEC wins in other areas, though:
1) Revs quickly to build boost
2) Extra backpressure to build boost (I think)
thanks everyone for your comments! just one question about what's above here...the oil squirters, vtec oil return line...ETC. that's for if you would be putting a vtec head on the h23a?? not just for raising the rev limit, right? i'm gonna put new pistons and rods anyway for the turbo sake, but just want to know exactly what i need to rev higher! Not planning on makin it vtec...too much work!
