if you already have the h22, dont worry about getting an h23 bottom. i may at some point nest year stroke mine out to 2.5 litres..with a full all motor build, how crazy would that be eh! 2.5..with say 12:0 to 1 compr Jun cams..mmmm sounds yummy, ill have that on a side note, i actually ran an h23 vtec last week...bad result for him, he was shiocked to say the least

Can anyone give a brief description of what's required to put a VTEC head on h23 block?

There is an H23 VTEC thread in the naturally aspirated forum, with links to some good info. My H23 VTEC was fun while it lasted

Your ideas been done on a handful of 4th gens already, and most of them didn't last long, to say the least. Lude engines, for the most part, don't take well to that degree of internal work, but you probably know this already.

yeah i know, but you can build it up and make it reliable...im only adding a head package with some type S opistons, since they ustilize the same coating..and with a thinner headgasket i can reach 11.5:1..besides the way it sits i can manage to get it into the low 13s..like 13.2 range all motor and then put a dry 75 shot on it, and ill have a daily mid to low 13 sec car, with the capability of running mid 12 speeds on the bottle..nice package if you ask me//plus its getting a new paint job..cleaning the headlights...HIDs..leather..putting in my JDM climate control when i fix my AC..so basically im trying to make my car as "nice" as possiblei still think the 4th gens with the 94 up leather interior are some of the classiest sexiest cars out there just my opinion though..also keeping it silver, i really like the silver...but i cant wait to buy my new toy in jan, either getting a black and silver gixxer or a 636....and to AZNluder82..i would dyno it, but im laxy, and dont have cash right now, im paying off bills...peace

Damn, I like what you're planning I wish I had that kinda funding right now...just trying to pay off my damn credit cards. About over-boring, though, I haven't seen too many reliable build-ups in the 3 years I've been looking at stuff like that. The stroker kits & whatnot seem to work much better for B16's & B18's, but our Lude engines just don't seem to take well to that or FI, no matter how much you build up your engine. I agree w/ you about the black leather--I just tore out my stock tan cloth crap interior, and swapped in some black leather from a VTEC lude, w/ the black middle pieces, and I'm happy, happy, happy w/ how they look w/ the black Recaro SRDs.

What else you got on that Lude to get those numbers? I really don't think just the swap would of done that for you.

And, how much did everything cost in the end, including parts, and labor if you payed for that? Full details please because my whole plan on getting my Si was so I could do the swap. If your getting those numbers I won't hold off any longer on it.

I remember that car having a nitrous kit on it.

. . . I also remember the owner saying it was a JDM H23 block.

Please tell me what you have cause I have a ton done and came no where near those numbers. Even Matt (slp mode) wasn't anywhere near that with nitrous. Please post what you have and a dyno plot. Also how did you get so much torque?

It could be the JDM H23A VTEC Accord one, but not likely...

no difference between the JDM one and the one you make. the JDM one is only like 197hp. And he said its a frank swap. With H22 pistons in a frank H23vtec you will already be faster.

First off you need patience,

H22 head gasket 80-100
H22 cog gear for crank 60.00
H22 water pump 120.00
H22 Timing Belt 80-90.00
H22 head of course , find one in great shape and cheap, 500.00- 1500.00
About 8hrs-3days of work depending on how fast you are

On my application I went ahead and put crower springs and retainers, unorthodox cam gear pulleys, unorthodox crank pulley, removed all power steering, all air conditioning, put a new clutch in and resurfaced the flywheel, and painted the engine bay, painted the valve cover, installed an NOS wet kit, installed three new subs an amp rack and new amplifiers, put new wheels on the damned thing and cursed a lot, but all in all it was a fairly simple task if you don’t undertake the last paragraph!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds good.. what size shot are you using? Also I'd very much like to see the dyno plot as well, not for the proof or your numbers really, but to see the power curves of the H23.
