h23 tranny vs h22 tranny?

what an F'n day... I just found out my synchros in 3rd gear are shot, so now I need a new transmission! Can any of you that have hac similar problems tell me how much a new transmission cost or what you did? I have an H23 and I'm debating on either rebuilding my tranny, buying another rebuilt tranny, or switching to the H22 VTEC tranny since I plan on doing an engine swap down the road anyway... Any suggestions?

Also... have any of you heard of a performance transmission for our cars, could you maybe do something to the synchros to allow for better shifting and performance? THANKS!

the h22 tranny wouldnt be very good with your present h23 motor b/c of the diff gearing. im running the h23 tranny on my vtec and the gears are longer.

Running a H22 tranny on your H23 won't hurt anything. It maybe a tad slower(less than .1 in1/4 mile) due to the fact the gearing is a little shorter than needed. The gearing is pretty close though so you would get by fine, the reason a H22 tranny is good with an H22 because the gears are short enough you can stay in vtec while shifting from 1-2.

wow i was informed falsely. yea its pretty hard to stay in vtec the 1-2 shift but it gets really easy later in the gears. like i could shift at 7k rpms in 3rd and still land in vtec in 4th.

SO in your opinions will the LSD H22 tranny perform better gearing ratio wise not traction wise with a H23A that would be setup with a higher compression ratio 11.0:1 than the actual stock tranny for 1/4 mile times??

Bar none the H22 tranny has shorter gears and thus better acceleration. So yes.

i'm in the same situation right now. I'm debating if I should put in the H22 tranny with my H23 motor. Or try to find another h23 tranny. I think i'm going to go ahead and try the h22 tranny b/c i can get a better price on one.

H22 will make the car slightly faster than h23.

Those of you who are going to use one on a h23 engine should know you will not hit 60 mph in second anymore and so on.

I hit rev limiter before I hit 60 in second gear in my car.

You have h22 tranny in a h23 engine?

I don't believe you hit 60 mph in second unless you rev. limiter cuts off at 7.4k rpm, something don't believe also. on a h23 engine. My dad has Si and I have VTEC I just don't see how this would be possible.
