h23 tranny gearing real low on h22 motor

i noticed with thruway driving, that at like 75MPH + my lude sits at like 4K, or 4200 in 5th gear. Is this abnormally high? I know ludes rpm high on the highway... but i dont remember it being that high with my h23. Im using my h23 tranny with h22 motor now... could that be it?

it feels as though if i were to downshift into 4th, id be WAY over redline

ur lucky it's the other way around... i have h22 tranny on my h23 motor... 60 mph... rpm's at ~4k... sux... since you have h23 tranny... gearing should be lower i believe... so if you had h22 tranny... the rpms will be higher than what you have right now... 'cuz vtec motor redlines at higher rpm... so the rpm stays up high... i believe... someone correct me if i'm wrong...

you should be at a lower rpm in every gear except first with an H23 tranny on an H22.

My guess would be since you probably still have Si gauges the tach isn't even close to accurate anymore. look and see at wat rpm on the tach VTEC looks like it's engaging at.

I dont see how the Si gauges affect the accuracy of the rpms.. I would have to say they should easily be the same.. I swapped out my h23 witha h22, but I also swapped to some EL gauges too, but I dont htink it woudl be that bad.. AND YES.. ive got an awesomely *** tranny.. The rpms should be where they are and the h22 rpms are even higher.. My tranny is awesome because it has a f22 5th gear hehe.. LOW RPM CITY.. But it also has a h23 3rd gear!! boo hiss!! and the synchro went out on it.. I guess that what ya get when you buy a rebuilt custom tranny.. Someone else had it made and backed out on it so I got a good deal, but IM sure synchros werent swapped.. My 3rd is near impossible currently... Sorry to steal ur thread...
