H23 Stroked

Man,I am so excited. I spoke with Tom at Arias Pistons and he gave me the rundown on how to stroke the H23 to a 2.5. He also said he could make some 11:1 pistons for me. I believe the whole cost will be around 2k, and I am going to speak with him further as I save some cash. I want to have the setup done by LFW next year, and I will update as I get all the peices together. So far I need GSR Rod, Golden Eagle Sleeves , and Custom Arias Piston to start the project.

By the way, Arias Pistons is running a Turboed h22/ h23 set up for their drag car

Why would you stroke an H23? It's already got a rather long stroke. If you want to increase the displacement, bore it out.

I want something different and unexpected. I think a high compression 2.5liter lude would kick ass

Yes it would, but I would do it via boring it out to 2.5L.

I will take your advice and look into it. I really want an H22, but I am afraid of smog laws. What I am going to do is save my cash, and then decide the route. I do have to smog my car in November, so I can drop an H22 for 2 years

Yea, the H23 already has a horrible R/S ratio. If you stroke it you'll just have more problems. Depending on how bad it is you'll probably only be able to rev it safely to like 6500 max? Seems like some balancing of the bottom end would DEFINATELY need done.

If you want to stroke the H23 it'll cost you more than 2K$ that's for sure... sleeving is what? 800-900$? GSR rods (aftermarket I hope) around 300-400$ pistons also in the ~400$ and the crank alone is gonna cost you over 2K$... If I were you I'd do like cantdrive55 said and bore it out to 89mm you'll get a 2.4L not quite the 2.5 but still good enough

Why stroke it to get like 180 to the wheels max? And have a, what I would call, a very unreliable motor.

I think the idea of it being bored out would be a much better solution.

Yeah I am bored with having an engine that doesnt have many possibilities, and a JDM H22 is a pain to do in CA. I would love an RSX Type S or something that responds to mods

h22/h23 sound like the best option. I have a buddy who is a Honda genius. I am going to ask him because he has done h22/h23 and LS/ Vtec hybrids. I think he can get me an H22 head pretty cheap, too.

umm what crank exactly are you using to does this 'stroking'? A custom billet crank from Crower alone costs $2400...

on a side note, how much can you bore out the h23 without the cylinder walls becoming to thing?

Yeah, I talked with my friend and he told me not to bore or stroke it. The best bet is hybrid or H22
