H23 probs

ok, i'm pretty sure my friends h23 timing belt slipped, and there was valve contact in cylinder 2. zero compression. 1 has low comp. 75-80ish 3 and 4 have 125. all low. So it seems 2 has bent valves, and the rest are off time. Are there performance (oversized) valves out there? as well as springs and retainers???

I see there is a head package from gude and jg engine dynmics.

If he gets approved for his loan 10k i'm doing a full buildup for turbo, but for now need to get it running and some performance from a good head

txh,
-nick

I would go with JG before Gude. I don't really know much about Gude but what I have heard is that they have some problems. I nevery heard anything bad about JG. I remember emailing them to find out what it would cost to get 300whp with my H23. They said to build the whole engine would be about $4500 and to add a turbo would be about $3k more.

Would you be interested in a slightly used h23 head?

It's already built up..

H22 outer springs, Portflow inner springs. New guides, seat ,custom Titanium retainers. Web cams and Skunk2 Gears.

The head was P&P by JG, and I have a matched IM and bored TB to go with it..

I spun a bearing in the bottom end about 4 months after the rebuild..

I originally put it up for sale at the TPC site but decided to keep it for another engine rebuild but now I'm thinking about selling it again..

The original posting is here...

I have a complete stock H23 head, if you wanna just repair it and go.

The H23 heads, w/ a good port and polish, will flow as much as an H22 head. And if you're going turbo, you wouldn't really need to beef up the valvetrain.

Once again...everyone says Gude is bad...how many of y'all actually had their products in your cars? My friend was sponsored by them back in 95-97, and never had a single problem. They've only gotten better. Quit propogating rumors, and start speaking based on experience.
