H23 motor is dead .... thinking F22b

So it was confirmed that there is bottom end issues with my H23 motor today from a shop and suggested motor replacement... What a kick in the chest that is to hear

But I am not ready to give up on it .. ... ... yet,

It is impossible to find a h23 replacement motor , and what one I did find they wanted obscene amount of money for ..

So thinking F22b , I am not looking for the 'fastest' thing out there , I liked mine the way it was and think I would be happy with that motor , not really into racing a honda , just enjoyed driving it the way it was ...

I did a search but really didnt find much information on it , Has anyone out there put the JDM F22b in their USDM car ?

I have read that intake and exhaust bolts up fine .. And will be doing the work myself

So can anyone give the rundown of what needs to be done for this to work , and any exceptions that I should know about in doing this .....

i imagine everything should bolt in just fine, any issues are going to be electrical... the tranny as far as i know is interchangable as well. you may need the ecu for the f22b as well. sorry cant help much, but im sure it will very doable... you should look towards maybe a h22. just the motor and ecu shouldnt cost much more than the f22b... i say that for the long run more so than power. replacement parts for a f22b might be hard to come by, no idea for sure tho, i dont ever look for f22b stuff.

good luck

Well I am not gonna spend 1k + for a motor for it .. just a daily driver

I havent tore it open and just had a valve job done on the head .. so I am not aware what really has happened to it ... Didnt sound like a spun bearing or parts flying around in bottom ... just lost oil pressure and MAJOR hesitation

I am pretty sure that if I compression test the motor .. I would have really bad results .. but at the time I just asked a shop to look at it and tell me what is wrong .

I think if I do get a F22b I would put on the H23 head since I know the work done on it is .. 'refreshed'

Miles on the motor ... beleive it was creeping up on 130k , this is not the same motor .. I replaced it after buying the vehicle from a girl for 800 bucks

Questions on F22b :

Use same H23 ECU ?
H23 Tranny usable ?
Wiring Harness ?
Knock Sensor and Oil Pressure Sensor .. read some on this being different ?
Which Water Pump ?
Which Timing Belt ?

I am in no rush here ... just means my Stang is bumped up to daily driver ..

Yes , I am really set on F22b ... I loved my prelude .. but I never set it up for 'racing'

besides the I/h that is about all I did .. minus wings west kit and paint job ..

Just enjoyed it as my daily driver and zipping around in what feels like a go-cart compared to my other car

So H22 power ... is just not my thing

Thx for the help any can give .. and that website didnt show as having any h23's in stock O well ....

Why not make a G23 Hybrid (H23 head mated to an Accord F23 bottomend).
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1046336

This is a GREAT motor to have if you plan to use your car for around town!! It has more tq.

YES FOR EVERYTHIng. i did this swap with my old lude. used everythign from my old h23 and when i needed parts just ordered h23 parts. one thing i would say to use is the h23 ecu over the f22b. unless you get a speed limiter remover which i did then i swaped back to f22b ecu. one problem i found once i did the swap was my idel was off.. woudl jump from 1k to 1.8k got a new part from honda i think it was a air sen. and everythign was fixed. if you have any question at all just PM me.
