Are H23 and H22 oil pumps the same?

i looked on majestic honda and slhonda and it says that they are the same part number, but i called auto zone and they had an h22 but didn't have a part number for the h23. we got the h22 pump and at the very top in the center of the pump there is a 1/2" x 3" slit where the pump and block don't match up... any idea what to do?

you don't suppose it has anything to do with it being a JDM engine, do you? I can't believe they would be, but you're right about the part numbers matching.

That doesn't make sense. H22 and H23 blocks are the same.

Are you sure you bought an ODBI oil pump?

If you are looking for an OEM ODBI H22 oil pump, let me know, I have one. It's used. $35 shipped.
