h23 dead, awaiting the rebirth

well, its almost offical. this weekend i changed out the timing belt, the water pump, and the tensioner, tried to start up the car. and no go. i went back in to check the timing to make sure everything was good and it was, so all i can come up with is that i have bent valves. i only have compression in the first cylinder, the other 3 there is nothing. i welcome all advice from the gearheads out there. this is as far as my mechanical know how goes. i hate to sound helpless, but at the moment, thats how i feel, i love the car, love the engine, i plan on building it up, but i have to get it running again first. all advice will be considered. thanx for all advice

its time for a new engine, or at the minimum a new head.

well.. i might have a head if you want it.

re-surfaced cams and all.. heads in great shape (as far as i know) but i spun a bearing and/or threw a rod.. regardless i have nasty bottom end damage so im gonna part her out w/in the next few weeks after we take it down and see exactly went wrong. MAJOR rod knock going on =].. just a good excuse to have ordered a jdm h22.

But i'll let ya know.

I have the tranny already sold when it gets out.

You ought to run a leakdown test before anything, it will help you trace the problem.

the car wasnt running before the maintenace, the timinng belt shreaded, so there was no way the car was going to start, im leaning towards either building for nitrous, or engine swap, but after the searching i did yesterday, it looks more like engine swap, because i cant find aftermarket valves online for the h23. if anyone knows a company that makes some, pass the info on to me.

If you want to hold on for a bit I might have an unused Ported and polished H23 head with 5 and 3 angle valve jobs, new, everything, valves, valve guides, Dual springs, spring seats..and Titanium retainers... I also have a matched ported and polished intake with the works done to it and a matching taper bored TB. The only think you'll need are Cams.. unless you want stockers.

I just had them finished so they've never been installed. Something came up so I may be going full H22 or H23 VTEC soon.

I'll know in about two weeks...
