i heard the stage 2 are good but i want tio take it a step further being that later on down the round(not to long) im going with a 2.7 stroker kit from crower i should actually have it very soon,, any way im leaning towards the stage 3s.. tehy tell me i need like 12.5 - 1 comp for these cams wich i dont mind ( i actually want to go higher) if i could....... any input on this ? or any other mods you suggest keep in mind this motor is in a 96 civic h/b so the weight is alot less thanx
Good luck on doing a Stroker that big. I have helped to build a Track only 2.5l Stroker H22. It ran like a champ, but was not streetable what so ever. Also the working rev range drops dramatically. I believe the rev limit on that car was like 6700 rpm, with peak torque coming on at about 2950 rpm stayin pretty flat until 6500 and falling. That motor put out about 250hp, and 215ftlbs. This was a track only motor. It vibrated all to hell, and idled like crap, but it really shined on the track. This was quite a few years ago, so maybe there is something new on the market, but just from experience they aren't that reliable on the street.
dr james that stroker 2.5 is a straigfht drop in right 9no machine work neccassary) and why dont any body talk bout the stage 3 crowers ??????is their somthing up with them or not to many people gto them cause of the size and streeytability?

they just aren't very streetable. they werent made for the street they were made for the track.. and dont think just because they say stage 3 that your going to have wayyyy more power than the stage 2's. you are only going to have more power if your engine is modified enough to actually gain power from stage 3's. if it isn't than you will gain very lil power.

There's a 5th gener that posts on here that goes by the name "vntperformance" i believe. He has the stage 3s. Read what he had to say about them here: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=96932
The 2.5L was not a straight drop in stroker kit. Everything fit fine in the block, but it did need to be nothced, and the cylinders were bored quite large. So there wasn't a lot of wall left. That is another reason why it really wasn't streetable. We had to notch the block quite a bit to clear the rods. There was also a deck plate welded on top of the block. it worked well, and I know that there are more and more all motor cars coming up in the Drag scene, so there might actually be a more reliable kit out there, but they won't ever be a straight bolt on affair.
