H22A Smoking Problem

Hi there fellow Prelude owners,

First time on this forum thing. Little intro, my name is Lynn, I am 21 years of age, and I just love Preludes.=]

My problem...Rebuilt my JDM H22A on my 96 Prelude OBDI. I had this sputtering problem. Bought new plugs and everything still sputtered. Didnt had smoke. Found out the problem was that one of my fuel injectors wasnt plug in. I broke a clip somehow. Anyways that fix the sputtering problems, but now its smoking just a lil from my injectors and my muffler. What I had done to it. New Piston, piston ring, etc. Same injectors though. People said its normal for it to smoke when its rebuilt. But started to smoke when I plug my injectors in? Oh and another thing, it kinda stutter in low rpm when im in gear, but when im in neutral its fine. Can it be my timing?? Help me out.

Thanks in advance,
Lynn

your injectors are smoking? what ecu are you using? if its a 96 its obd2 unless your using a p13 ecu. if you have a jdm h22 and your using the usdm ecu its gonna run a little rich because that ecu has different fuel maps. what did you swap over when you swapped in the jdm h22?

Its smoking by the injectors. P13 obd1 ecu. After the swap it was perfectly normal. But after rebuild. It started to do these problems.

its hard to diagnose a problem without having the car in front of me. but i would plug a scan tool and read what it tells me (short term fuel, long term fuel, o2 sensors, spark, ext.) check to see if your injectors are leaking, it might just be a bad injector O ring leaking onto something hot and burning off. i had this same problem on my recent rebuild.

its a whole swap including ecu. p13 and the engine harness h22a/manual and the motor mount. i only paid 1200 for everything. A guy friend did it for me. I also had to order the obdII to obdI adapter for my ecu. The stock exhaust manifold also came with the swap. I use that one to connect to my h23 2-1 piece. Thats basically what we did.
