Hello,
A little info about the vehicle:
H22a OBD1 M2A4 Transmission
1996 Honda Accord
The vehicle had recently snapped a timing belt, it had a manual tensioner that we assume was too tight. The belt had snapped at only 30k after the timing belt was installed.
We picked up a used h22a head and sent it over to RS machines for a 3 angle valve job and new valve seals installed. The head was nicely hot tanked as well.
After the installation, I checked the distributor timing and it was on point, but had a few non-timing belt related issues.
The vehicle makes a "lawnmower" sounding noise from the intake once the idle jumps between 800-1000 RPM. At 1k and above, the noise is completely gone and at idle the noise is not there. The only time we hear the noise is when we slightly rev it.
It sounds like it is coming from the intake pipe, which makes me think that it is a possible issue with the FITV or IACV? The noise is not coming from the valve cover.
Here is a video clip of the noise:
Thanks in advance yall,
Jim
