Debated a billion times over, do a search. Mods please remove this thread, they always seem to turn into flame wars.

i don't think its fair to compare when the h22 has dohc vtec... if the h23 had dohc vtec then i think it would be better with the bigger displacement...

depends on what you want to do with either motor. H22 is great for all motor. H23 is good for turbo/nos. there is a day and night difference between both motors in stock form. h23 has more low end torque.

i drove my friend's rsx after lowering it and i drove my car... it felt like i was driving a civic lol it feels more powerful in the low end (h23) but when the vtec kicks in... and... imagine you shifting at 6500 rpm and vtec at 8000 rpm lol or is the prelude vtec redline at 7500 rpm? i still love my car though

If it came down to money I'd rather have a nice Si than just an Ok vtec.

H23 is basically an accord crank and shorter rods in an H22A block without the vtec head.

Look up the part #s they are identical...

Plain and simply put H22A dominates it regardless of any situation. I'd still rather have a built H22A with boost than a built H23 with boost.

I'll have volumes to speak about on this thread in a couple weeks after 2years of driving H23 and then going to H22 ... I drove ancients H22 and my H23 is definately torqier down low, but the H22 makes the car feel so light and it has such nice and smooth pickup ...

I've considered getting a JDM H22 but I'm going for FI so I'm sticking to my H23. I'd rather have my lowend for boost to help before full boost kicks in rather than wait for boost and vtec (depending on if its disabled or not). VTEC is nice and all, I've driven both but I think an H23 is better just for normal driving. Racing VTEC wins hands down but when I drove my friends VTEC, I was surprised at the difference at the low end. If I could find a H22 at a decent price, whether it was USDM or JDM, I'd probably buy it to rebuild my H23 rather than my spare H23 which the block seems to be messed up. Ah well, I would also consider boosting my H23 and going all motor with a H22 to have best of both worlds hehehe.

^^^ the h22 is great engine for NA applications... but i do not want to hear n e one say that a boosted h22 > than a boosted h23 ... that is just retarted... boost equalizes the engines...

my h23 is a torque monsta .............

but yeah the h22 is great for NA application and getting smoke by my h23
Hehehe

naw im playin... the h23 is a great engine... XES, Precisionh23a, Brady's 13 sec lude are great example of what a h23 can do... but to go NA w/ is another story... but there was this one guy on ht.com that made a bit over 200whp and ran 14sec flat on a auto lude ... but these days the NA h22 fellas are making good power and torque w/ the h22 (e.g. 2point6 & junbb2)... but they are equally impressive

Why didn't Papadakis run a boosted h23 in his civic if they are superior under boost. And on another note show me a daily driven boosted H23 making 725WHP!! By the way in NA form both are more like a torque midget. Have you driven ANY pushrod V8??
