h22 not getting above 2k

I just finished a jdm h22 swap into my 96 si. I knew some of the vacuum hoses weren't plugged in, but I was excited to take it out anyway. It will rev up fine in neutral, but when I get on it in drive it will just slowly work it's way up to about 2k and quit there. Top speed that night was about 35 lol. Anyways, could the vac hoses cause this? or is something else? thanks.

usually the vacuum hoses affect idle and some other things. i haven't really heard it stopping you from reving past 2k

get a helms manual, use the diagram to wire up the hoses then that will subtract from possible misshaps

yeah, it is really boggy and takes a while to get going. I don't think I have the map sensor is hooked up either. I have a 2 prong sensor that is on the wire harnes on the firewall side of the connectors. I don't know what it goes to.

Might be a problem.

Did you check the ignition timing? If the timing is really far off you might run into this kind of problem

sounds like timing is off or check your rotary button, take your distributor cap off then look and see if you find anything that you shouldnt

Okay, on the H23 the map sensor came on the intake mani and the jdm one didn't. Hooked it up and now I can go above 2k. Now...my car won't downshift when I "step on it". When I try to put it in D1 - D4, it will only go into 2nd and 3rd. No first, haha. I think I'm gonna check the the shift linkage again. Again, thanks for the help. The timing is okay, however.
