Civic's use H4's, JDM 4th gen headlights are also H4's I believe.

5th gen is all H1.

Ahhhhhh!!!! Now I'm confused. I initially heard H4's for highs, H1's for lows. Then I heard H1's for both. Now I hear H4's for both. Does anybody know for certain??? Coil, I mean no disrespect to you, I just need to know FOR SURE before I drop some more money. Thanks, y'all!

Ok I looked at your profile 1996 right?

5th gens use h1's all around.
Try the 4th gen forum for help w/ these bulbs.
I'm pretty sure that H4 is for JDM 4th gen headlights.
I'm thinking its a 9005 or 9006 for the 4th gen prelude but I didn't ever have one so I don't know.

I'll move this over to 5th gen.

you have a 4th gen prelude with JDM once piece headlights (92-96),

get H4s for low, and H1 for high.

No. H4 are used for HIGHS and LOWS. Thats why there are 3 connectors. - ground, high, and low. H1 for a JDM 4th gen headlights are used as a fog light, not called a city light since the actual term of a city light is for a 5w wedge bulb.

H4 harness on the left and H1 on the right.

The way Phamine explained it is the correct and true way to hook the JDM's up if you are trying to get the same exact look as a Prelude in Japan.

I opted for the easier route and connected mine so it works just like our USDM Preludes. The H4 is my low beam and the H1 is my high beam.

Thats what I'm gonna do when I finally wire up my JDM's this weekend

Is it necessary for me to solder the wires...or can I just tie and weave them together then just cover them with electrical tape..a friend said yeah..another said no

You can do whatever you like to connect them. You can splice them together and wrap in electrical tape, solder them together or use butt connectors.

I just helped dflipmode install his this past weekend and he wanted to splice them together and use electrical tape. When we were finished, everything worked like it was supposed to.

Good luck.
