h&r springs installation ?

hey i was wondering if there was any special way to install h&r sport springs. like i remember reading about something like not cutting the bump stops. can anyone who has installed them give me some hints on how to install them? like is there something different about the installation of these springs compared to others out there. any information would be helpful. any write up would be great. thanks

I cut them on mine...I think you should always cut the bump stops when you lower a car...

read the piece of paper that comes in the box. the instructions tell you what to do with the bumpstops.

I really don't think cutting them is even necessary. I can't think of any reasons why it'd be dangerous or bad not to cut them. Didn't cut them on my old 3rd gen, drove it for about 8 months like that, without a problem, on the factory struts.

If I remember correctly, it states to NOT cut the bumpstops. I didn't, I have the H&R sport springs, and I don't have problems. Other than that it's pretty straight forward. Just be careful when compressing and decompressing the springs, it's a LOT of pressure.

hey guys thanks for all the input. i lowered my car, and seems like the install went well. didn't cut the bump stops, hopefully i wont have any problems. i like the drop, not too low, and i shouldn't really need a camber kit which is good. got a wheel alignment and they said its all good. i'll take some pics if you guys want to see how the drop is on h&r sport springs.

oh yah, one problem i ran into was that my abs light for some reason turned on. i have no idea. it was fine up until i dropped it. anyone have any input on why this may have happened? haven't had time to check what may have gone wrong. but yah, like the abs light turns on when i start the car, goes away, but after i start driving for a few seconds it turns on. any quick input would be greatly appreciated. been so busy these days. thanks.

Sounds like one of the wheel sensors may be malfunctioning. When you took one of the wheels off, or when you were putting it on, or when you were messing with the suspension you probably bumped one of the sensors. You can pull the code for the ABS just as with the ECU. I can't tell you how to do it right now though, I don't have my helms.

thanks cantdrive55 for the quick response. but yah that seems like the logical explanation. maybe when i have some time i can pull the codes. but yah, if you get a chance, can you tell me what to do to check the sensor? like where to look? thanks.
