Guys , I need your help deciding which 4th gen I should get
OK after over a month of searching for another 4th gen , I narrowed down to 2 of them...
1)
Im not sure if you guys remember an old member by the name " H22apOwErEdbAtMoBiLe " He's selling his 1993 Prelude VTEC with ONLY 83K miles and he's local. It will need a new clutch/timing belt/water pump service. He said it burns very little oil. Its black , lowered , headers , exhaust, and custom black/red leather interior.I dont really want an modded car though. I havent test drive yet , maybe this week. Clean title
2)
This car is in Fresno (3 hour drive from where I live) I checked it out yesterday , its a white 1994 Prelude Si with 120K , it will also need timing belt/water pump service , clutch and brakes already replaced. It drives smooooth , she (the owner 35-45 lady) even told me to smash it Its all factory stock , only problems are the antenna (doesnt go up , who cares!?!) , driver's side sun visor kinda hanging , some minor tear on the seats , a little rip on the carpet near the fuse box area. Other than that , its a great car! I love the 94 Interior , has a armrest/cupholder and the EL gauges and digital odometer looks so sexy! Also the stock rims are super clean with new tires...Too bad no leather Clean title also.
Negative
1994 Prelude Si :
High mileage , tear on seats and carpet , antenna doesnt go up, needs to re-do the tint (bubbling) driver's side sun visor kinda hanging
1993 Prelude VTEC :
No EL gauges , no digital odometer , no armrest/cupholder, its modded ( lowered/shocks/headers/exhaust ) , burns oil.
Damn , its a HARD choice... ARGHH... By the way , they're both the same price $5800.
I'd go with the stock car possibly. I'm like you, a modded car scares me. You could always get the VTEC, sell the mods, and get a JDM longblock put in and have a "fresh start" so to speak.
I think im kinda leaning towards the 1994 Si because its not modded and its driven by a lady , who knows Nolan couldve raced the car? Hmm...Very tough choice...VTEC Prelude with only 83K is VERY hard to come by nowadays...Hope I'll make my decision this week...I need a car so bad!
I say go with the 94... the interior is a lot nicer and it's stock... high mileage and nop VTEC doesn't mean too much, you can always do a swap.... well money permitting anyways... And as long as she had the regular maintenance done I would say it will most likely be in poretty good shape mechanically...
If I were you I would be leaning towards car #2. I like to start out with my car fresh...stock. Plus if a 35-45 yr old lady had it, you know that it wasn't romped on. I revren(sp?) had my car before me and thats one thing I loved about it. That it was stock and I know it hadent been romped on. The el gauges are a plus...leather isnt all its cracked up to be. ITs hot in the summer, cold in the winter and can rip from wear. Good luck making your choice and let us know

im selling my 94 si with leather too bad your out in cali.
i say go for the 93 vtec. anything you like about the 94+ can be installed in the 93 (ie: elec gauges...) so dont let that stop you. i just like the way the vtec motor looks better than the si. if your worried about it being raced or not, it doesnt matter, the car is built to take it. also remember that the car that HASNT been raced or driven hard...as soon as you do start racing it, problems might arise that might have been solved with the other car already raced.
if that makes any sense, good. its too early and makes no sense to me. blah

I wont be doing any racing at all...Im gonna go full JDM look , no heavy modifications.
id go with the lower mileage vtec. those modifications arent major, only bolt-ons really. youll always pay a lot more for those parts if you were to do them yourself anyways. if vtec is in better shape all around, definitely go with that for the same price, which seems very fair to me. at least youll have done all the maintenance yourself also, so that you know exactly when it was done and that it was done with honda parts, etc.

Hey guys , hopefully I can check out Nolan's 1993 VTEC this week. If I like it , I'll buy it for sure...But I like the 1994-up interior so much! AHHHH decisions decisions ! I still have my 1993 Honda Optional Armrest , which I could use. EL gauges looks so damn good though. Its been a tough week. I need some sleep
I definately say go with the vtec, I agree with everything on the other car can be installed for alot cheaper than a swap, also these motors are meant to be driven hard, they can take it, hondas will go forever, I mean if it was a chevy or something (no punt intended I also own one) speaking from experience, I would say no, Just make sure to do all the maintenance on it.

Hmm...Its gonna be a VERY HARD decision..Now that ECHprelude kinda mention about driven hard , makes alot of sense...OK now im kinda leaning towards 1993 VTEC darn you guys! ARGGGGH
Wait for a 1994+ VTEC... Or just come to the UK: there are thousands of them over here.
Seriously, though, I knew exactly what I wanted when I bought my car (1994+, VTEC, 4WS, manual), and I had to wait quite a while to find a Prelude with which I was entirely happy. Don't rush into buying a car with which you won't be entirely happy just because you "need a car so bad". Wait until the right car comes along.

Just test drive Nolan's car. I've rode in it before (he had to take me home when I was stranded last year. lol) It's a little loud (exhaust), and the ride is a little rough (lowered suspension). But it's what I'd expect from a modified car. Besides, I'm too used to my RS*R exhaust and stock soft suspension. And from riding with him, my gf's brother romps on his corolla more than nolan does the prelude. If I had to chose, I'd take his car. Just because it's a vtec with low miles, and if you don't like the mods, you can sell/trade them for something you want. Aesthetics like EL gauges can be done anytime. I do understand why you'd want a stock prelude to devirginize though.

Good point there...Im gonna have to spend more money if I buy Nolan's Lude , like changing the exhaust back to stock , get new clutch and etc . I would like to keep the headers though.. I like the stock exhaust look/sound.
