to the guy that wants to lower his 96

You CAN lower it on stock shocks with no problem. What the members on here were saying was that the ride will not be very good and the shocks will probably get blown fast (they may last 1 year). It's easier to replace the shocks with some aftermarket at the same time you lower the car.

I dont really care about ride quality, as long as it doesn't affect performance. so i can lower it with just the lowering springs?

you can lower it, but ride quality/performance (handling) will be affected.

You will feel the effects when going around turns, over bumps, etc - excessive body roll, a bouncy suspension, etc. You can get after market shocks for as little as $150 or so off ebay (KYB GR-2....not the best, but they work) that will work with your setup.

My advice is save up for shocks, or put your springs on, then save up for shocks knowing that your current shocks may blow soon. if you are careful going over bumps and don't bottom out the suspension, your shocks may last a good while. This is a good time to replace your bump stops on your shocks - get some energy suspension bump stops online/
