okay, i need to replace my wiring....things wear out over time. i was thinking about getting a grounding kit, but where do you hook up all the wires? on second thought, i was just thinking of raplacing the two wires that connect to the neg battery terminal along with the terminal itself.
^well because grounded kits haven't been known to be very effective in our cars......and plus, you could go to your local home depot and make one yourself for under 20 bux
imo mooney replacing those two wires is a good idea and a much better option than spending extra $ on a grounding kit
btw where it connects to the frame......you can dremel (polish) off the paint for a better contact

i did 4 gauge to all wiring that goes to the battery, 2 going to the starter , one going to fuse box on the positive side an 2 going to the frame under the motor and one connecting to the core support on the negative side. I could tell a difference when i did this, not horsepower-wise but overall performance...

no pics, my best friend owns a car stereo store so i got the wiring for cheap (free), you need about 4-5 feet per battery terminal, ring terminals, and while your at it, new battery terminal clamps, it's super easy to do...
remember: the thicker wire/more strands per wire = less resistance = better performance
I just got a red top and decidied to redo my "grounding kit" wires to got to a distribution block and come out as a 0 gauge cable with really nice ring terminals on the end, cleaned up the engine bay quite a bit

Agreed, ground wires are a car audio thing, so go to a car audio store. Get some 4 guage and you'll be fine. Thing is, you don't need to replace your stock ones - just add the new wires and leave the old ones. The current will take the path of least resistance.

no, just replace your old ones, if you have a wire with ~300 strands as compared to a wire with ~50 srands, its going to go through the new wire with more strands which equals less resistance...
alright - im going to get the wire tomorrow. i got a OE terminal from walmart, im going to start with the negative. i just need to figure out some of the grounding points now.
there is a post somewhere, i forgot where it is, but it was on here.....the PGM-FI ground.....im not sure where it is but i want to go ahead and make sure its attached good and everything
so you guys are talking about added more grounds right? im thinking of just replacing my negative terminal wire since thats really easy to do. just gotta lift the car and unbolt it form the bottom and get a new wire from autozone. and my red top is a tight fit because of that negative wire. i never really saw where the positive wire led to tho so i dont know how to replace that one. would replacing my negative battery terminal wire do any good?
im talking about replacing old stuff. the positive wire runs right with the negative wire until it splits off and goes to the starter. follow them down next to the battery. its easy. im going to go by walmart tomorrow and see if i can find the wiring parts there - it should be easier and cheaper. ill let you know if it really improves anything.

yea, def let me know because my starter has been hesitating in this cold weather. maybe some new wires could give it a little push.

I was reading an article recently that detailed the installation of a grounding kit. I wish I could find the source right now...
The article/install mentioned the same mounting areas as in the quote from rayslude, but they mentioned that you may need to try alternate areas to get the best results. Supposedly some locations on the frame may not be as good as others, etc. In the article's install they used the battery, starter and fuse box locations, but the frame and core support locations were the ones that were more prone to "bad" connections. Sometimes just moving to different areas of the frame or core support could make a big difference in gains.
If I come across the source of the article/install, I'll post it so you can find it and check it out.
