Grinding in third....

My tranny always grinds in third gear on the upshift no matter how long i wait to shift. If i replace the clutch with the heavier pressure plate will that help anything? What about a short-shifter? Just wondering.....

or is it just like this forever?

I have a 93 Si, would i have any gains in 1/4 mile time if i got a VTEC tranny?

your 2-3 gear synchro is messed up... time for a new tranny, or a rebuilt one

oh my......

would it be better to get e V-TEC tranny? So if i did want to do the swap i could just get the longblock h22a? Would i notice any significant gains in the 1/8 and 1/4 from this tranny swap?

Buy a Helms and a 3rd gear set and go to work. <$400 later your transmission will be fixed.

so you bought the car like that or you caused this yourself? by the way, an h22 longblock doesn't include the tranny so that won't help your situation.

hey have you tried double clutching to get into 3rd? I have the 5th gear grind and if i double clutch when shifting up it doesn't grind. I know it sucks to have to do that every time, but it beats hearing and feeling your transmission grind. Give it a try and see if that works.

I have a 93 si with the same exact problem. I have an ACT HDSS and it didnt change anything. It is the synchros for third gear like someone said before, but if you dont have the money to get it fixed then do what I do and just use third for racing. Go from second to fourth when your just driving normal. Works for me until i can get a new synchro

dammit......okay,sounds good,King. Sometimes it does not grind when i let the RPMs drop all the way down on the 2-3 shift, but that can only be done on flat ground in the city....
