Grinding noise from engine while starting car?

I've been having this weird problem lately on my car. Sometimes when I start my car, I would hear a grinding noise coming from my engine for a second. I can even feel the grinding. I've been having ignition problems lately, and one of my theory is that it's double starting or something... Anyone else ever had this experience? Thanks.

where can you feel it through? I think it is the starter too, when it went on my 87 prelude, the last time it ever worked it made a horrible grinding noise for at least 5 seconds, then the next time I tried to start my car: nothing.

check your distributor cap rotor for excessive dust. Could explain your iginition problem and could be the grinding noise as well. Your distributor might be on the way out.

I just had a tune up and they replaced the rotor, so it shouldn't be the problem, unless they did something wrong. I'm thinking it's the starter/ignition.

I'm talking about the actual distributor. Not the rotor or cap. I, too, believe you should begin at the starter. Just giving you other possibilities.

Oh I see.. I get what you're saying. I'm going to look into the starter first, if that's not the problem then the distributor will be checked out. Do you know the estimate cost of replacing one of those?

I have 155,xxx miles, lol, but everything else runs fine. =)

When it grinds, I can feel the vibration of it from the engine. Kinda hard to explain, but it's kinda like that.
