Greddy Evo 2 is NOT loud

Ok for all those who said in the past that this is a LOUD exhaust is smoking crack. No where near as loud as my old Tanabe Racing Medalion. That exhaust...albeit a great exhaust....was so loud and droned so much that for the last few months that I had it i kept the silencer in it.

The Greddy Evo 2 produces a very deep tone at idle, especially inside. At about 3K the car almost sounds like stock and very minimal drone in the other RPM ranges. Absolutely no rice that I can speak off when reving. This os one of the best sounding exhaust Ive heard at a reasonable dB level.

I know after break it in it will deepen in tone slightly.

have it on my 5th gen.

All my buddies changed to Greddy Evo or PE(evo's older buddy basically)
after I got my evo2.

I plan on getting greddy evo2 again when I get my new ride.
5/5, 10/10, 100/100.

Yes, its nowhere close to being loud. Im that kind of person who can't stand
loud exhaust. but this exhaust was perfect. I even have test-pipe now,
and still love it, not loud at all. Greddy really did some homework with their evo2
line ups.

How is the Evo2 compared to the RSR Exmag? I've had my exmag for about a year now it's sounds a little deep but is mostly very quiet.

Well I can't realy speak for the Exmag, although that was my first choice for awhile...but then I heard such good things about the evo2...and found a great deal on ebay that I had to go for it. Im telling you...the evo2 is not loud. From what I gather from others...it is slightly louder than the exmag and has a deep tone, however not as depp as the Tanabe I had before.

Last night I installed my megan header and it has made the evo2 slightly louder but with a somewhat raspier sound. It would be nice is someone could confirm that this raspier sound is normal?

SolRayz, what's the deal with the header? Did you notice a difference performance wise?

I need new exhaust bad, so this will most likely be what I go with for the catback part (the Evo2 that is). For the header, I guess I'll go with the new DC Sports header finish (can't remember the name). And then I'll need to figure something out about the catalytic converter (test pipe or hi-flow). Which by the way, anyone have any recommendations on Cat. converters that are easy to find and are worth the money?

--Or, I might wait and do a J-spec h22 swap and put the SMSP header on!! :licks lips:

^I guess it depends on how much money you got for a swap. As far as the header and exhaust, it does seem like it pulls a little harder all around but especially in the mid to upper range. Now I can't say for sure what the gains are but after reading Import Tuner were they dyno tested a 98 teg gsr after I/H/E install you can expect roughly +7-8hp and +7-8tq.

As for the cat, I read mix reviews on whether a high flow cat makes any gains at all over the stock cat and a test pipe is a nono if your planing on staying N/A.

+1 for loving evo2 only complaint is the resonator pipe likes to scrape, but that can be fixed. im just too lazy to take it to an exhaust place. Id rather just leave it and waddle over stuff more haha.
