got a stupid question

how do you know if your egr works or not? i have a swapped motor and dont know if the tuner programed it to work or not.

if you dont use the egr do you have to remove it? or can it just stay there and be programed (in the ecu) not to work?

what happens (to a working egr) if you were to unplug it? anything serious? i wanna test mine

thanks in advance.

I don't know how to tell if it works or not, but when I was having problems with my EGR, the CEL light comes on. When you're driving, keep your speed and throttle position constant for about a minute. If the light doesn't come on, it's functioning properly (if the wires are hooked up properly).

If you don't want your EGR to come on, just stick a metal plate between it and the intake manifold. You don't have to unplug it. No CEL (from my experience).

Again, from my experience, if your EGR isn't working, you'll fail emissions, and get slightly worst gas mileage (about 20 mpg vs 26mpg if I remember correctly), but "supposedly", you gain some power.
