got a couple questions about a couple things
First. I put my new jdm h22 in my se and effing love it. The only thing that is wrong is, power steering is a little squeaky, and the power steering hose that comes from pump over then behind the engine is leaking.
The replacement of this hose does not seem easy because it connects to a "Y" connection that branches off to the vss and somewhere else. It seems you would have to replace the whole thing because the hose is "in there!" there is no hose clamp holding it down. Its part of the connection. Do you have to replace all of it?
My second question is about my exhaust. I purchased new headers and the down pipe for the h22 going in. I bolted the headers on then lowered the beast in. After everything was all gravy and connected in I raised the vehicle to connect the headers to the cat with the down pipe. Then I Found out the far side of the down pipe wouldn't fit to the cat. Wtf? I was confused so I tried putting my old h23 down pipe on and it BARELY fit. This one was still not long enough but I made it fit by bolting it to the flange from the headers first, then with a little push I was able to put a bolt from the down pipe through the cat side with a bolt on about 2 threads. Then I quickly picked up the impact wrench then screwed it on. After that I screwed the rest on and it looked all sealed up.
About a week down the road I noticed my engine started making "Ticking" noises whenever I accelerated but I thought it was just the engine. I then took a closer look and heard where it was coming from. THE FLANGE GASKET!
It seemed like it was pulled out of the headers by 2 mm. toward the front of the car. I assume this is because the down pipe is short by a fraction and the stress of the end of the down pipe connected to the cat was slowly pulling it out of the headers.
Why is both the h22 and h23 down pipe two short for my car? The only reason why I think that would be is because I got a universal cat welded on when I bought the car to pass emissions. Maybe the db accidentally shortened the piping a little? I do not know?
But what should I do? I was thinking about just buying a new full cat back so I know I will have the right length but what if it turns out the same? =P
Help me out!
